EMO Kids – Go the way of the Dodo bird?

Given that kids today have access to the most information at any time in human history, should expect to live longer than humans just 30 years ago, and that per capita wealth is the highest ever in human history.

Is there still a reason kids should still be EMO?

Obama orders most hospitals to grant gays visitation rights – latimes.com

The Obama memo is inspired in part by the case of Janice Langbehn, who was kept from seeing her partner, Lisa Pond, as she slipped into a coma. Last September a federal judge rejected Langbehn’s lawsuit against Florida’s Jackson Memorial Hospital, saying there was no law requiring the staff to grant Langbehn access to Pond’s bedside.

Why is this still an issue which causes some folks great consternation.  Even if you believe homosexuality violates a commandment from God, how could anyone feel right in denying someone access to their loved ones in the hospital?

Google to plug self into Microsoft Office • The Register

“Our first step will be to combine DocVerse with Google Apps to create a bridge between Microsoft Office and Google Apps,” they wrote

via Google to plug self into Microsoft Office • The Register

Should Google really care about docs at all?  I mean isn’t Google really interested in driving more eyeballs to the web for advertising.  Also shouldn’t Microsoft care more about reinforcing their vise like grip on Office Productivity suites.

Is there ever a possibility that Google and Microsoft would work together to create a free version of Office powered by Microsoft funded by Google advertising?

AT&T CEO backs metered billing, sees no iPad woes – MarketWatch

Other top executives at AT&T, including wireless chief Ralph de la Vega, and Verizon Wireless have recently argued in favored of tiered pricing models similar to how most consumers pay for gas or water usage.

via AT&T CEO backs metered billing, sees no iPad woes – MarketWatch.

    Two points

    1. This pricing should only be in place if people who really use very little pay very very little.  It’s an arbitrary number, but I think $5 for for 200 MB should be good, $10 for 1GB, $15 – 2GB, $20 – 3GB.  I think you see where this is going.
    2. Users are not locked into a data plan.  So users who use less in a month are good, and in months where they go data heavy they pay for it.

Sound off what do you think?

AP IMPACT: Drug gangs taking over US public lands – Yahoo! News

Growing marijuana in the U.S. saves traffickers the risk and expense of smuggling their product across the border and allows gangs to produce their crops closer to local markets.

Would legalizing make these types of issues moot?

Parents say doctors hastened death for dying kids – Yahoo! News

Among parents studied, one in eight, or 13 percent, said they had considered asking about ending their child’s life, and 9 percent said they had that discussion with caregivers.

I honestly can’t imagine the anguish that must go through parents’ minds as these thoughts come.

Obama, GOP fail to reach accord on health bill – Yahoo! News

The American people want us to scrap this bill,” said House GOP Leader John Boehner of Ohio

via Obama, GOP fail to reach accord on health bill – Yahoo! News

No we don’t minority leader Boehner, we want the Legislature to do the hard work of making health care reform!  Let’s stop the games of “start from scratch” and we only need incremental change.  At this point I don’t even care how you accomplish the following things

    1. Find a way to control health care costs
    2. Find a way to provide health care for all people
    3. Find a way to make people healthier

Malpractice lawsuits are one component in the equation called healthcare, but it is not a keystone to this debate http://bit.ly/bZFpvA
